American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is an integral component of revitalizing both the local and national economies, especially regarding
public transportation.
CART will utilize its ARRA funding to purchase compressed natural gas buses. CART currently features three CNG buses in its fleet, and the newly opened
University of Oklahoma Transportation Operations Center is making it possible for that expansion.
The ARRA funding will allow CART to continue its mission of becoming a more environmentally friendly public transportation system by operating significantly
on cleaner burning fuels like CNG and biodiesel. Additionally, with more buses CART will help stimulate its service area by transporting people to work, education
and essential services.
